Back from the dead (with random links)

Exams are over with; now, once again, I have some time to write.

First, A. Lebedev, greatest Russian web designer, author of the famous Ководство (translated into English as Mandership) has designed a keyboard. The ultimate keyboard. Optimus, the Ultimate Keyboard of Doom. I imagine writing a custom driver for the thing to use it with Mathematica (no more reaching for all the pallettes, no more need to enter the longhand codes), and almost begin to salivate.

Second, JeremyK explains how a tech support team caught a Windows rootkit in the wild. Seems to be very non-trivial. I wonder how would one would go about looking for rootkits on Linux, other than using existing anti-rootkit software?

Third, these guys sell cheap used computers. Lots of Thinkpads… Of course, caveat emptor.

Fourth, some people haven’t realized that in the wild, sensitive expensive electronic equipment and water are not the best of friends.

Fifth, a guide to setting up an SDL and wx Win32 toolchain under Linux (specifically, Gentoo). Quite useful.

And sixth, a bundle of laughs. The Daily WTF collects the world’s worst code and puts on display. Overheard in New York does the same for New York’s weirdest conversations.
