What is wrong with all these people?
The BBC just did a survey on global attitudes to the use of torture.

I thought that we had all concluded that torture was a fundamental evil back in the 18th century, right around the time we invented human rights and modern science. Yet here in the 2006, in the age of unprecedented prosperity, in the age where the internet and budget airlines have finally started to blur the lines between “us” and “them”, a third of the population in civilized countries still supports torture.
What the hell is wrong with our species?
